- Degree Program at IPB University
Master’s and Ph.D. Scholarships at IPB University for UNTL facultyBackground: The National University of Timor-Leste (UNTL; Universidade Nacional Timor Lorosa’e) is the only national university in Timor-Leste, established in 2000 with the country’s independence. The university has room for international capacity building as the graduate school is small and a considerable number of faculty do not hold advanced degrees in their fields. As of 2020, the university has a total undergraduate enrollment of 23,216 students, but the number of graduate students is only 176. Furthermore, some faculty members hold no Ph.D. or master’s degree. IPB has a good environment to educate these faculty members as the research capacity is more advanced and Indonesia and Timor-Leste share a similar climate and agricultural environment due to geographical proximity.
Overview of the program: The KOICA-ICAB project sponsors master’s and Ph.D. scholarships for UNTL faculty members to pursue their degrees at IPB University. Objectives:
- The capacity of the Faculty of Agriculture at UNTL is enhanced and research output of UNTL is enhanced
